Author’s Note – About This Book.

Astrokitty in Urfspace” is the culmination of a journey I’ve been on to explore what I love most about drawing and story-telling. Beginning with the minimalist cartoons in “Urfspace: Cartoons of the Future” and developed through “Urfspace Heroes” and “Urfspace Beyond: Into the Radlands”, I have been expanding an alternate universe of characters in which two main protagonists have now emerged. In fact, they were there from the very beginning, but I deliberately avoided defining them too quickly. I let them evolved from the nutrient vat of the previous Urfspace books from which pages they have now stepped, still in somewhat fluid form, as Astrokitty and Space-G3n.

G3n is a punky female vat-thing clone-sister space-cadet alter-ego with brain implants who struggles through life without much of a clue. Her other-half is Astrokitty. Astrokitty is brave and unafraid. She is together, knows what to do, and can handle it. She is the character we would aspire to be, but could never possibly become. She is Snoopy to Space-G3n’s Charlie Brown. They are cosmically and biometrically linked, and united by music.

Astrokitty sprang into my mind one morning in 2022, and I quickly filled up a whole sketchbook with drawings of her. Those drawings became this core of book. Some of them exactly as drawn that day, the rest evolved over the next two years and displayed in vaious states of finish. I later realized I had actually first drawn her some years earlier, as part of #Catuly 2020, a drawing challenge I created to be the most lazy and low-stress drawing challenge ever. It was still hard. Anyway, without fully realizing it, I made my first drawing of Atsrokitty on Juy 24th 2020:

Astrokitty in Urfspace” contains elements of all my previous books, including ink drawings, watercolors, cartoons, stories, poems and comics. It reveals more about “Astokitty and the Urfspace 5”, the Urfspace cartoon band. With popular facts about fashion icon Astrokitty, and intimate details of her interstellar career.

Astrokitty in Urfspace” is very much dedicated to my wife Tina, who encouraged me with this material and inspires me every day. She loves it and thinks you should buy it. So listen to Tina and download yourself a copy. I get 100% of the proceeds from PDFs purchased on this website so that is a fantastic way for you to support my work, and also answer all your questions about Astrokitty, Space-G3n and the mysterious Henrietta Quoon.

Thank you so much!

Chuck
